Victorville—The “Key City” of the High Desert

Living at the Cherrybrook Lane real estate community in Victorville offers a taste of all seasons, from fall leaves and winter snow to spring blossoms and summer sunshine. Victorville is located on the edge of the Mojave Desert, just 97 miles northeast of Los Angeles and 35 miles northeast of San Bernardino. This high desert city has many historical roots, including the 1926 establishment of Route 66, which was one of the main arteries of the National Highway System linking Chicago, Illinois, with California. A portion of this famous highway provided a transportation corridor through Victorville, which was unsurpassed until Interstate 15 was constructed. Seventh Street and "D" Street were a part of this national highway.

Economy and Employment

Victorville has experienced substantial growth since 1980. The population is currently around 74,000. The city is the business hub of Victor Valley and draws consumers from well beyond the immediate area. Most of the area’s employment opportunities fall into service-related businesses, with nearly 42% of the businesses in the city located in the retail sales category. Local manufacturing companies are primarily related to mining and concrete production.

Education

Students living at the Cherrybrook Lane real estate community will be served by the Adelanto School District. The district includes 15 public schools and 3 private, as well as Victor Valley Union High School District which has 3 public Junior High Schools and 2 public High Schools, along with a few private schools.

Specifically, the students from Cherrybrook Lane will attend West Creek Elementary, Mesa Linda Middle School and Silverado High School. (Please check with the specific school districts for exact attendance boundaries.)

Higher Education needs of Cherrybrook Lane residents are served by several trade schools and Victor Valley College. Victor Valley College offers associate degrees, certificates, continuing education, vocational studies, and much more.

Something for the Whole Family-Recreation, Dining and Entertainment

The Victor Valley offers numerous recreational options. The San Bernardino County Fair in Victorville starts up each year in May right in the heart of Victorville. Throughout the year the fairgrounds plays host to many other activities including the Home & Garden Show and Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular. The Performing Arts Center, located on the Victor Valley College campus, provides a wide variety of cultural entertainment including concerts, speakers, plays, musicals, and more. Another recreational option is the High Desert Mavericks, a championship Triple A baseball team located on the city's western border in Adelanto.

There are 13 city parks, as well as teen centers, baseball diamonds, tennis and racquetball courts and so much more. The city also has movie theaters, golf courses, and over a hundred restaurants serving everything from fast food to gourmet cuisine.
